Artist Review: Bob Burridge thoughts on Holbein Acrylic Paint

Guest Blogger: Robert Burridge.

Holbein Acrylic acrylic paints currently occupy my studio. I love these paints because it’s one more thing I have in my favor for producing a successful painting.  The color consistency is pure and clean.

The colors dry as brilliantly as when wet. I use no mediums with these because I don’t need to. The paints behave exactly as I hope they would. No muddy colors, ever!

The colors I use are exactly the ones I use from my goof proof color combination chart. I only use ten colors for my entire palette.

I paint with only 4 colors in each painting which gives me a huge combination of color choices. This increases my chances for developing a successful painting in less time.

All my workshops are based on loosening up techniques – throw away all your tiny brushes! To loosen up I splash color and water around with wide, two inch brushes, paper towels, sticks and my fingers. Always start abstractly. Under every great painting is a great abstract painting!
