LUKAS paint is manufactured in Germany. Available only through Jerry’s Artarama in the USA. The acrylic paint this company produces is known as CRYL.
The LUKAS product line offers both pasto and fluid acrylic viscosities.
The LUKAS company is a long established oil paint producer, even claiming Vincent Van Gogh as a customer. LUCAS website states they were the first to offer acrylic paint for sale in 1964.
It seems that paint manufacturers really like to mention if they were the “first” to produce any sort of paint. I am not convinced that this marketing tactic actually works to impress the artists. We mostly are interested in best value per cost instead of ‘who’s first”.
I haven’t tried LUKAS acrylic yet. It is on my list of paints to try whenever my budget allows. If you are fan of LUKAS ACRYL paint, please leave us a review at the bottom of the post in our comments sections. We would really like to hear from you!

Lukas paints, acrylic, are heavy bodied heavily pigmented paint in large metal tubes. very budget friendly to the struggling artist. Good coverage, plenty of color choices. I thin them with medium and water but for the impasto technique Lukas paint is perfect. I have an assortment of their acrylics, along with Golden, Liquatex, Maimeri Brera, Dick Blick, an a few others.
